Remember! - Think Further! - Move On!
In 1996, over 1000 women gathered in Gmunden, Austria for the first European Women's Synod – feminist, ecumenical, spiritual, political, and self-determined.
30 years later, from the 23 to 28 July 2026, we pick up where we left off: seeing each other again, remembering, telling stories – and reflecting together on what remains, what has changed, and what needs to be done today.
All women who identify find welcome – all women who were there in 1996, all those who couldn't be there at the time, and all those who are interested in feminist theology and practice.
1996 co-organisers Gabi Kienesberger, Michaela Moser, and Maria Katharina Moser have courageously made it possible for women to gather again and build on that first meeting by remembering, telling stories – and thinking together about what remains, what has changed, and what needs to be done today.
Women weave resistance
The meeting thrives on the fact that much is self-organized and much is created collaboratively. The Open Space format provides the framework for this. It is women working, as they have always done, with determination in the face of difficulties, proud hearts and vision for the future.
