Holy Hypocrisy

On 17 March 2026, Archbishop Gabriele Caccia, representing the Holy See at the UN, made a statement on the status of women.

He talked about "access to justice for women and girls".  He said that it was "important to recognise and dismantle the barriers that women and girls face".  He proclaimed that "effective systems of accountability and a culture of responsibility are necessary to prevent abuse and ensure redress for violations".  He stressed that "effective systems of accountability and a culture of responsibility are necessary to prevent abuse and ensure redress for violations".  Finally he asserted that "The Holy See and numerous Catholic institutions will continue to support these efforts".

This hypocritical statement from the Holy See makes no mention of the fact that the Holy See continues to regard women as less than second class! There certainly are no equal opportunities for women in the Catholic Church!!

Three theology students want to become Catholic presbyters.
Why this is not possible.

Lisa Baumeister applied to the seminary. And was rejected because she is a woman.

Consecration for women is not possible in the Catholic Church. Why does Lisa stay in a church she doesn't want?

The video sheds light on the desire of three female students of Catholic theology to become priests. They are at the end of their studies and have submitted an application folder to the seminary, but it has been rejected.

Canon law only allows men to become priests because Jesus was a man. The students discuss vocation and church structures with the head of the seminary.

Despite the rejection, they feel called and want to help shape the church.

Conclave 2025

Prayer for the Conclave, courtesy of CAFOD

Loving God,
We pray for the Cardinals gathering to elect a new Pope,
that they may be open to the Spirit
and filled with wisdom and courage.
May the Shepherd they choose be a builder of bridges,
a witness to the dignity of all people,
a steward of the precious gift of the earth,
who will lead all your people
to bring to life your love and justice.
Amen
