On 17 March 2026, Archbishop Gabriele Caccia, representing the Holy See at the UN, made a statement on the status of women.
He talked about "access to justice for women and girls". He said that it was "important to recognise and dismantle the barriers that women and girls face". He proclaimed that "effective systems of accountability and a culture of responsibility are necessary to prevent abuse and ensure redress for violations". Finally he asserted that "The Holy See and numerous Catholic institutions will continue to support these efforts".
This hypocritical statement from the Holy See makes no mention of the fact that the Holy See continues to regard women as less than second class! There certainly are no equal opportunities for women in the Catholic Church!!
