Wednesday, October 3, 2018, the Synod of Bishops was opened. At 10 o'clock Pope Francis presided the opening service on St Peter’s Square. The bright weather let forget for a moment the dark shadow that is above the upcoming Synod and it was not directly addressed (if I understood correctly). But the "Synod of Bishops can’t and should not ignore sexual violence in the church". At 15 o'clock "Ending Clerical Abuse" held a vigil in front of the Castel Sant'Angelo, which received much attention from the media (but until now is not on the internet). I followed the opening of the Synod at 16:30 on the screen in the press room of the Vatican. The Pope’s address used over and over again the words “Synod” and “Second Vatican Council” and “clericalism”.
